Recipe#17: orange savarin

“If in doubt, bake a cake.”

Ingredients

Cake:

180 gr (1 ½ cups) all-purpose flour

50 gr melted butter

150 gr (¾ cup) sugar

3 eggs

1 orange (juice)

10 gr baking powder

1 tsp vanilla extract

Glaze:

1 orange (juice)

sugar

Directions

Cake: Whisk the yolks and the sugar together in a bowl. Add the flour, the melted butter, the juice of 1 orange and the baking powder. Mix until smooth. Whip the whites and add to the batter.

Grease and dust a 26 cm (9 inches) round cake pan. Pour the batter in the pan and bake at 180° (350 F) for 30 minutes.

Glaze: Heat the sugar and the orange juice in a small pot until creamy.

Glaze the cake and let it cool. You can also decorate the cake with slices of orange.
